The society "Verein zur Förderung eines Sustainable Europe Institute" was founded in 1999. It works as an information platform for its members and the researchers of the network and supports scientific work on the field of sustainable development. It helps to communicate on topics of sustainability and new research results to a broader interested public. It runs the website and the InfoMail of SERI. Currently the society has approximately 70 members all over Europe.
